Each instrument was sampled and scripted in a stylistically-specific way for the creation of authentic-sounding tracks in genres such as Space Age Pop, Lounge, Jazz, Bossa Nova, Cha Cha Cha, Big Band, Easy Listening, and beyond.

Overview

Space Age Rhythm brings you the authentic sound of a mid-century studio rhythm section, including:

  • – Bossa guitar with split keyboard mapping combining quintessential chord voicings for 11 chord types in the upper register and independent bass notes in the lower portion, with a unique chord pattern assistant.
  • – Retro drums with multiple dynamic layers, round-robins, vintage tone. Techniques include sticks, brushes, and mallets. Done the Authentic Soundware way.
  • – A rare 1960s tube organ with 5 sampled registrations and unique tone controls for quirky melodies.
  • – Authentic Cuban percussion ensemble featuring vintage-sounding conga, timbales, bongos, cowbells, wood blocks, clave, guiro, triangle, maracas, and tambourine. 3 mic positions.
  • – Twangy hollow-body electric guitar with 11 articulations including two legato modes and generous use of a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. Recorded direct for use with your favorite amp modeler, or use the included adjustable amp setting.
  • – Upright bass with sustain and staccato articulations and 2 mic options performed by one of NYC’s premiere jazz bass players.
  • – Lap steel oozing with cosmic quirkiness. A multitude of different articulations, DI and amp-modeler.


The Recordings

We went all out on recording this project as authentically as possible. Working in some of New York’s best studios, we captured the sounds of a classic studio orchestra using the tools and techniques of the era. A brief list of the coveted classic gear we used includes, original Neumann/Telefunken tube U47s (3), RCA 44 ribbon mics (3), RCA DX77 ribbon mics (2), Altec and Ampex tube mixers, Pultec EQs, and a Fairchild-style compressor.
