Silence+Other Sounds Nordic Folk Strings v1.1 KONTAKT
Nordic Folk Strings is a Kontakt library built around the tagelharpa, the traditional three-stringed instrument of Scandinavia. This project is a collaboration with singer and tagelharpa expert Alessandra Cognetta (Omen, Hellen), who recorded all the source material herself.
The library features two tagelharpa models: Bass Tagelharpa, with a darker, lower tone, and Standard Tagelharpa, evoking a classic Viking-inspired sound. Both instruments have been sampled across different tempos, rhythms (straight and triplets), tunings, and tonal variations, offering rich versatility for composers.
8 Kontakt Instruments
Nordic Folk Strings includes 8 instruments, organized as follows:

-
Slow 80–110 bpm – Straight rhythm

Movements
-
Straight instruments: 5 movements
-
Triplets instruments: 3 movements
Droning and solo strings are sampled separately, allowing you to choose tunings that define the root key.
Movements Sequencer
Each instrument features a Movements Sequencer, an innovative tool for combining loops and creating new rhythmic patterns. You can run the sequencer to beat (regular timing) or to keys (advance step with each new note), unlocking endless melodic and rhythmic possibilities.
Instead of sampling long, sustained notes, the library captures authentic rhythmic movements. These loops are tempo-synced to your DAW and can be combined creatively using the Movements Sequencer and the Rhythmic Legato feature.
Rhythmic Legato
The Rhythmic Legato lets you play seamless melodies over movement loops. When notes are played legato (slightly overlapping), the loop continues naturally instead of restarting with each note. This simulates real-time comping and creates smooth, expressive phrases.
By combining the Movements Sequencer with Rhythmic Legato, you can generate virtually unlimited new movements and play melodies directly into the loops, offering a uniquely organic, dynamic performance experience.
IMPORTANT: Nordic Folk Strings requires the FULL version of Kontakt 6.6.1 or higher!
It will NOT work with the FREE Kontakt Player!
