Human Synthetics Pure Breaks Vol.1 [Ableton Breakbeat Template]
My ‘Ultimate Ableton Breakbeat Template’.
A breakbeat diary of my life over the past 5 years.
During that time I’ve sunk far too many hours into working with and chopping breaks. This is the result.
A collection of 6 Live Sets containing various breaks chopped in various different ways, with multiple template MIDI clips.
You can open the individual Sets and work in there, or you can drag and drop the Channels from within the Sets into a fresh project or your existing productions.
Chopping Methods:
- Hit by Hit – each individual drum hit in the break sliced in a Drum Rack or a Sampler:
- Example – Precision Amens;
- Thru – various portions of the break sliced in a Simpler or Sampler with playback set to Thru (there’s a Stop ‘button’ if you don’t want the break to carry on playing when you stop the clip):
- Example – Authentic Jungle Breaks
- Experimental – generative break switching racks, made mostly with the Amen (one of my most popular YouTube Shorts shows how I made these).
There’s also the HS_Breaks Channel Strip on each of the Channels.
Within this you have my HS_Break EQ Rack, the HS_Breakbeat Message Rack and my HS_Break FX (these are weird).
The EQ and Massage Racks contain some fun macro snapshots for instant results.
Example – Creative jungle break processing with FX Racks
By default (nearly) everything is either flat (no processing) or off.
The breaks are separated out into:
- Amens (there’s loads of these):
- Hit by Hit;
- Thru.
- Experimental (bonus generative stuff, mainly Amens, great for breakcore);
- Hit by Hit A-G (feat. Apache, Fatback, Football, Funky Drummer, Fuzzy Haskins & more);
- Hit by Hit G-R (feat. Hot Pants, Kool, Limp Bizkit, Perpetual & more);
- Hit by Hit R-U (e.g. Ruffneck, Sesame Street, Soul Pride, loads of Thinks, Tighten Up & more);
- Thru (feat. Cadence, Latee, Scorpio, Soul Pride, Worm & more).
There’s also a Demo Set containing the track idea I made in my Ultimate Ableton Breakbeat Template video.
NOTE: This is a complex project with lots of samples in it. The HBH sets can take a couple of minutes to load in their entirety due to the volume of chopped samples, but you should be able to drag n drop individual Channels from within them relatively quickly. Load in time will vary depending on your set-up. Requires Ableton Live Suite 12.1 for full functionality across all the Sets. …
