Aaroh Desi Percussion WAV
“Desi” is a South Asian polysemous term meaning “from the homeland” or “from the countryside.” Desi Percussion invites you to explore a hard-hitting, rhythmically inspiring soundscape rooted in the beats and grooves of South Asia.
The pack features traditional instruments such as tabla, ghatam, ankle bells, kanjira, and frame drums, all recorded with vintage microphones including Neumann U67 and Sennheiser 441. The recordings were processed through rare and characterful gear like the Bogen MXM-A, ATR-102, Unfairchild, and Gemini Mixer, then chopped, mangled, and reimagined using the SP-404MKII. The result is a collection of punchy, modern grooves infused with a distinct desi character.
Desi Percussion was produced by Kaushlesh “Garry” Purohit, a Los Angeles–based, Grammy-winning audio engineer and music producer. His credits include work with boygenius, Harry Styles, Omar Apollo, and Carlos Santana.
