Musical Sampling PLCK KONTAKT
Typically, plucked instruments are sampled in isolation—clean, controlled, and precise. But that process leaves out something essential: the moment before the note. The tiny brush of a finger. The anticipation. The human hesitation that gives a pluck its character.
We wanted to keep that.
Instead of recording single, disconnected hits, all of PLCK’s sustain samples were pulled from real musical phrases—actual playing, with motion and intent behind every note. Even the release triggers weren’t treated as afterthoughts. They were captured from performances written specifically for flowing, successive notes, preserving the subtle information that exists between them.
Every sample was then gently hand-tuned by ear, non-destructively. Not to force perfection, but to keep things feeling warm and natural. Chords sit together more comfortably, doublings feel organic, and each note is allowed to keep its own pitch character as it evolves.
We also chose to record everything at a comfortably soft dynamic. In our experience, that’s where these instruments speak most honestly—and where they’re the most flexible once you start writing.
The end result is a collection of plucked instruments that feels cohesive, expressive, and playable. Something you can build with instinctively. Something you can “guitar-chestrate” with—whether you’re sketching something simple or weaving together more detailed arrangements.
