PitchLoop89 brings the vintage digital charm of a classic hardware unit into your DAW—without the hassle or cost of tracking down the original. Inspired by the DHM 89 pitch-shifting delay, released in 1979 by French manufacturer Publison, PitchLoop89 preserves the character of the original while adding modern enhancements for sound control, versatility, and performance.
Jumps, Jolts, and Jitters
At its core, the device features two independent pitch-shifting delays. These circular delays hold short snippets of audio, the length of which changes depending on the selected bandwidth. In the original DHM 89, this was a hardware limitation—but in PitchLoop89, it’s a creative feature. Switching between sample rates can produce octave jumps, and lower rates can introduce unique sonic artifacts.
Playback speed and direction can be adjusted for pitch shifting and segment reversal, while the two pitch shifters can operate independently or as a stereo effect. Modern enhancements include filtering and feedback routing options not possible on the original unit. Shape each channel with low-pass and high-pass filters, and experiment with routing modes:

Cross – sends each signal into the opposite pitch shifter
These routing options, combined with pitch-shifting control, allow you to create rising and falling pitch patterns or complex feedback cascades.
Creative Modulation Tools
PitchLoop89 also includes:

Hold button – freezes audio on one or both channels, enabling shuddering glitches, jolting rhythms, and fractured textures

Vibrato LFO – sine or square wave for smooth or robotic pulsation

Position modulation LFO – seven waveform options, including “Move” for smooth random motion
Modulating the position via the LFO or random button can produce effects ranging from spacious pseudo-reverbs to rhythmic audio warping.

Full Push integration gives access to all parameters across six menu banks, making it easy to tweak, morph, and experiment.
