Sonic Academy How To Sound Like Chris Stussy with P-LASK TUTORIAL
This week, we’re happy to welcome back Ableton guru P-LASK for a brand-new How To Sound Like course, this time focusing on capturing the signature style of Dutch DJ and producer Chris Stussy.
Across this three-and-a-half-hour course, Paul builds a full track from the ground up. It begins with a deep listen to Chris Stussy’s productions, breaking down the key elements and characteristics that define his sound. From there, we lay down the drums using a 909 kit, before moving into the melodic side of the track — designing the bass, lead, and synth parts, along with a vocoder-style vocal element.
Once the core ideas are in place, we create scenes in Session View and move into arranging the track. The course then covers transition effects, mixing, and finally mastering, ensuring the finished track is competitive and ready to be played out.
